Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior representative stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
