Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and implementing penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and three other people were injured.

The assaults follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the country's energy grid, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

He said technical personnel and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
